Do you want me to re-post Thomas' story on this blog?
A place to remember the people who made us who we are.
The more I read and research, the more I realize how unique and rich our family heritage is. Our family goes back to the 1600s in America on the Giles, Swan, Christensen and Clark lines. I have a number of journals and documents piled in file cabinets and boxes. As I get time, I'll scan them in and publish them under the appropriate family line--and include stories as I learn them.
I hope you enjoy this blog and have fun learning about your family. Perhaps you can use it for Family Home Evenings. In any case, know that all of your family, here and above, love you very much.

Hi, I'm a descendant of Thomas Rasband who was William Giles son-in-law by marriage to Elizabeth Giles. I was wondering if you had more details about how Thomas Giles came to be baptized and how he might have encouraged the rest of his family to join the Church? If you have any info you can email me at jaymack20(at)hotmail(dot)com. Thanks. - Jay
Hello Jay,
You're the first ever to find my blog! I'm thrilled.
There is information available on Thomas' conversion. If you go to Google Books, and search for Thomas Huskinson Giles, the first reference that comes up is to "Tullidges History" (of Salt Lake, I think). In any case, there are about 3-4 pages of information about the family.
Also, I'm currently spending a little time on the Huskinson line. If you have or want information on it, I'd love to share.
Good luck,
Diana
Hi,
I'm putting together a website on the Huskinson family. I'm a descendant of the Huskinson's from Nottinghamshire. The site is very much "in the making", but please look, and any comments, links, etc are very welcome.
Opps website is

You asked, "Do you want me to re-post Thomas'(Huskinson Giles) story on this blog?"
My Great-great-grandmother is Kezia Giles, Thomas' sister who traveled with him to Utah...I have a hard copy of his journal but would love to have an electronic version if you have one. Thanks.

Hello, I just discovered your blog. I, too, am descended from William Giles and Sarah Huskinson through Thomas Rasband and Elizabeth Giles; but I also trace back to him through his son Thomas "Huskinson" Giles and Elizabeth Susannah Moore and their daughter Laura Ann, and through George "Francis" and Mary Greenwood and their daughter Mary Elizabeth and Mary Giles and John Crook. Yes, William Giles and Sarah Huskinson Giles are my ancestors through FOUR different lines. I think I have more Giles blood running through my veins than any other "so-called Giles".
In doing my research on the Giles family I discovered that their daughter "Emily Ann" was christened "Emma" not "Emily Ann". I was surprized at this by this, but the date [6 Jun 1837] and place [Strelley, Nottinghamshire, England] both fit. (By the way, she married James Carlile, who is the brother of two of my 2nd great grandfathers, George and John Carlile.) Emma was born just 21 months after Ann Giles, the only Giles child who did not survives to adulthood, died.
